The bus in the wilderness out beyond town is where I first saw the meaning of life in print. Inside a bus used by hunters in the diary of a dreamer were the words, "Love is the answer." It was written by a starving young man who knew what mattered and dedicated his youth to surrounding himself with those who shared the same crazy dream. I knew that dream with the intimacy of one who lived it and taught it and so I did as best I could until the dream itself collided with what became a standard implemented by academics and the myriad rest who thought awe and wonder and mystery should be measured by bubbles and graphed and now I think back and wonder if the hearts of the heartless ever had so dear a story of their own soul ripped from their insides and put into a matrix to be measured or if that matrix itself is actually their own real and dreamy heart. |
